What does it take to survive the fight? That question can be answered in one word, PREPARATION. Preparation is the key to prevailing victorious in any battle, and a fight for your life is just that, a battle! Preparation comes in two forms, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL. Is anybody ever 100% prepared, NO they are not. No matter how prepared you are when that first strike lands on your face or that first bullet zips past your body, that perfect plan you had goes right out the window, and you naturally fall back to instinct. For some that is panic mode, for others it is an uncontrollable reaction, which could be sending random bullets down range or throwing a halo of punches hoping to hit your target, and for the rest it is a technical and vigilant response with one purpose, incapacitate or kill your opponent. That brings me to the point of this thought. I was told a quote this past weekend and I would like to share it with all of you. It goes "Amateurs practice until they get it right, professionals practice until they can't get it wrong." What does this means. Earlier I stated that your mind and body will auotmatically return to it's instincts when it does not have the answer. You will fight how you train. You must practice your skills, constantly strive to become better and more adaptive (learning new skills), and make them second nature (Instinct). Once you learn the proper technique for accomplishing a task, you must make it instinct. That is what that quote means, if you practice something until you can't do it wrong, your body and mind have accepted that skill as instinct and you will revert to that when needed. You must also train mentally as well. You must have the Will to Live. Tell yourself I will not die today. You will not defeat me. If I must kill you then so be it, I will take your life in defense of my own. If you prepare yourself both mentally and physically, you will prevail. The human mind is powerful weapon, USE IT!!! Remember, there is always someone who is training just as hard as you. You must train harder. No one knows it all, you must take the initiative to learn from people more experienced thatn you, it is not about pride, it is about survivial. I am a student myself. I constantly continue my training with individuals who are more experienced than myself. I do this so I can pass on my knowledge to you. "Knowledge not passed on is knowledge wasted" |
